New staff members setting up their ThinkBook may wish to confirm if a certain pre-installed application is in fact installed on their device.
Initially Installing Applications
When initially installing apps, users should keep your device powered ON, signed in, and connected to WiFi for as long as 24 hours to make sure everything installs.
To make sure your device doesn't fall asleep during the 24 hour period, check your power settings:
- Open Settings > System > Power & battery (or Power & sleep on some versions)
- Under "Screen and sleep," set both "On battery power" and "When plugged in" to Never
- It's best to keep the device plugged in during this time as well, since battery saving settings can sometimes interrupt the sync even with these changes
Manually Syncing
You can also try syncing your device manually to help speed up the download, while still leaving it on for the full 24 hours.
To sync manually:
- Open Settings > Access work or school
- Click on the connected account (it should display your @pecosca.us email address)
- Select Info > Sync
This forces the device to pull the latest policy and settings.
Searching for Installed Applications
To search for an app, press the Windows key ⊞ on your keyboard and typing the app name (e.g. "Lightspeed") into the search bar. Please note that the app Lightspeed MDM does not appear on the desktop when it is installed on the device.
Troubleshooting
If an application still isn't appearing, please reboot your device. This will force any pending Microsoft updates to install. Once the device restarts, please ensure you are connected to the internet.
